What is the International Team Spelling Olympiad?

The International Team Spelling Olympiad is a spelling competition that arises from the traditions of the US National Spelling Bees. ITSO was created to innovate on the basic premise of the Spelling Bee, focusing on a team-based competition and a range of competitive events to expand upon the format of a traditional Spelling Bee. The ITSO was also created to be inclusive of an international audience that wishes to learn the English language.

Mission Statement

The mission of ITSO is to discover and encourage young people worldwide with language learning talents and to provide a platform for contact and communication among outstanding young people from different cultures through the highly-recognized spelling bee. The system of the competition encourages the cooperation between the various teams and nations, promoting a friendly relationship among the young people of all countries.
